Fruit and Spice Smoothie
This smoothie combines fruit, grains and maca, a root crop from the Peruvian highlands.
Maca is often called "Peruvian ginseng" due to its adaptogenic and toning properties, although it is not botanically related to ginseng.
The maca tuber can be eaten fresh or dried. Dried, it is often made into a powder, which can be added to foods or drinks. Maca is rich in nutrients, including vitamins (B, C, and E), minerals (calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and zinc), fibre, fat, and protein.
