Black Tea with Apple and Autumn Spices
Here is a recipe that brings sweet and comforting flavours, ideal for the fall season. You can also personalise the recipe with other fruits or spices according to your preferences. It’s a change from the traditional chai latte.
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon of black tea (like Assam or Ceylon)
1 small apple (cut into thin slices)
1 stick of cinnamon
2-3 cloves
1 pinch of nutmeg
1 teaspoon of honey or maple syrup (to taste)
500 ml of water
Optional: a star anise for a more aniseed taste
Instructions:
Bring the water to a boil, then add the black tea to a teapot or saucepan. Leave to infuse for approximately 3 to 5 minutes depending on the desired strength.
Add the cinnamon sticks, cloves, and pinch of nutmeg to the infusion. You can also add star anise if you like this aromatic touch.
Add the apple slices to the teapot and let them steep for another 5 minutes to fully release their flavours.
Strain the mixture into cups, then add one
spoon of honey or maple syrup depending on your preference. Mix well.
Enjoy your hot autumn tea, accompanied by a biscuit or spice cake for a perfect cocooning moment.
