Tasting
Infusion time:
To capture the full essence of hibiscus, steep the dried flowers in simmering water for 5 to 7 minutes. This infusion time releases both the deep ruby colour and the distinctive taste of the herbal infusion.
Dosage:
We recommend using approximately 1.5 to 2 grams (one teaspoon) of hibiscus flowers per cup of water (250 ml). Adjust this amount to your preference for a lighter or stronger infusion.
Temperature:
A water temperature of 95°C to 100°C is ideal for brewing hibiscus, fully extracting its flavours while preserving its delicacy.
Notes and flavours:
Hibiscus stands out for its tangy, cranberry-like taste with a hint of natural sweetness. Its distinctive flavour is both refreshing and aromatic, making it an ideal drink to enjoy all year round, hot or iced.
The history of hibiscus
Hibiscus has been grown and consumed around the world for thousands of years, with each culture celebrating its particular qualities. Native to tropical and subtropical regions, from Africa to Asia and the Caribbean, it has been adopted in many medicinal and culinary traditions. The ancient Egyptians valued its refreshing qualities, while in the Caribbean it became a symbol of celebration and joy. Our hibiscus infusion continues this rich heritage, offering a drink that delights with its flavour and colour while taking you on a journey through ages and cultures. Each cup celebrates the diversity of nature and human history, a reminder of unity in diversity.
